Poets may sing of the Hills of Donegal … but well dressed men everywhere sing the praises of HILLS of Lucan!

What a sales pitch!!!

This little gem came to us from Miriam Cushen, of Cushendale Woollen Mills, in Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny, who’s father recalled doing business with Hills of Lucan back in the day.

The mill in Lucan was founded in 1863. Internationally renowned for their blankets, wools, tweeds, worsteds and gabardines, particularly in Canada and the U.S.A, the business closed in 1988.

Was there a bed in Lucan that didn’t have a Hill’s blanket over the years?
Generations of Lucanians worked there, over the 125 years of operation.

Cushendale Mills in Graignamanagh, is the oldest woollen mill in Ireland, with a history going back to 1204, and is also the last mill working with traceable Irish fleece.

Take a look at their website www.cushendale.ie to see some of their beautiful creations – all kinds of blankets, scarves and hats etc……

“Each Cushendale piece is made slower for a lifetime of colour, softness and warmth”.

“We love visitors and Graignamanagh is a beautiful place for a day trip!!” – Miriam Cushen
