Agnes Graham and Rosie Eiffe

This photo was probably taken in the mid to late 1930s, and shows Agnes Graham from Watery Lane, and Rosie Eiffe from Dodsboro, outside O'Neill's Shop in the Village.

O'Neill's Grocery Shop was actually at two different sites over time – at one time beside Carey's Newsagents, and at another date roughly where Lynch's Supermarket stands today. At the latter, the village telephone exchange was a feature for some time. We're not sure which is the site of this picture.

The 'Lucan Ices' and 'Gold Flake' signs can be seen in the background.

Agnes would marry Pat Dignam and settle in Dodsboro – she only passed away recently.

Rosie married John Nolan (my own parents), from Mill Lane in Leixlip and they settled in Westmanstown for a couple of years before moving to the Village, and then to Sarsfield Park. Rosie passed away in 2006.

Big thank you to Patricia Kavanagh (Agnes' daughter) for the picture.
