Another Earth

<< Back to the main Stories/poems page

Ten thousand light years from the sun
Another Earth has just begun.
A myriad years from now it‘s true,
Someone will live there just like you.
Soft rain will fall, crops will grow,
Men will plough and plant and mow.

Ten thousand light years from the sun,
Another Earth it’s time has run.
A myriad years ago it’s true,
Someone lived there just like you.
Soft rain did fall, crops did grow,
Men did plough and plant and mow.

We point our lenses at the night,
Try to read the speeding light.
Mystery star in Christmas skies,
Guide of the innocent and the wise,
Points to an Earth where men will go,
In peace to plough and plant and mow.
