I saw a robin this morning
He cocked his head
And eyed me through the window
Confidently
His bright red breast
Lifted the darkness of a grey day
I thought of
Golden autumn leaves
Scarlet holly-berries
Pure white snow
Brown swirling winter water on the weir
Blue and yellow pictures in coal flames
Frost star-filled skies
I’m glad
I saw a robin this morning.
